Roles and Responsibilities

The Global Operational Support Systems (OSS) Platform Development division is responsible for delivering and operating shared cloud operational services, as well as integrating IT Service Management (ITSM) for IBM Cloud and non-Cloud service teams. The OSS Platform Development team is made up of highly skilled software developers who are passionate about providing value to IBM through improved operational efficiencies. OSS shared services are an integrated framework that includes ITIL service operations practices for event and incident management, advanced operations like event correlation and self-healing automation, Slackbot automation, SLA/SLO dashboarding and monitoring, and external notification publication.

The position is that of a software developer. The candidate must be proficient in software development, with a focus on microservices, cloud languages, and scripting. The preferred OSS is Go, but Python, Node.js, and Bash are all acceptable. The candidate must have experience with API design (REST) and implementation. The applicant should have prior expertise with build / open-source tooling (Github, Jenkins, etc.), testing methodologies/practices, and automation, as well as working in an Agile and continuous delivery environment.

The candidate should have some experience with machine learning methods, building and deploying AI algorithms, and evaluating the performance of AI. The candidate should be knowledgeable about secure application development methods. It is recommended that the candidate have familiarity with UI/UX development and understanding of React, Angular, or CSS

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and run a collection of cloud services (UI and backend, microservices and APIs).
• Ensure that code is automatically generated and deployed to staging and production environments.
• Create and train AI tools to help automate ITSM activities.
• Duty days are available in a rotation.
• Ensure that OSS services meet security and compliance requirements.

This position will collaborate with the broader OSS global development teams, as well as stakeholders from the Public Cloud Architecture Guild, many Service SRE teams, Client Success Availability Managers, and Cloud Executive stakeholders.

Necessary Technical and Professional Skills.

• Cloud microservice development, REST APIs, and Kubernetes.
• Languages: Go (GoLang); Node.js is a plus.
• Scripting: Python, Bash is a bonus
• Program AI to utilize massive volumes of data.
• Develop and deploy AI algorithms, and evaluate the effectiveness of AI.
• Develop tooling and Continuous Integration and Deployment (CI/CD) principles.
