In India, in order to take paid leave (PL) or earned leave (EL) during their notice period, employees typically need permission from their employer. After an employee resigns, most organizations prohibit scheduled vacations or leave without pay (ELs). Any leaves taken during this period must be offset against the notice period. To shorten your notice period, you can try requesting that your boss or HR use any leftover holiday leave. You can outline the advantages of letting you take use of your leave, like not having to pay you for the duration of your notice period or the vacation time you’ve accumulated. To assist them in planning and to minimize any hiccups, you can also bring up this request when you notify your manager of your resignation.
