In TCS these days, promotion is a political game.
One variant of eligibility for your promotion would never be granted to you.
Avoid chasing promotions; instead, work to the best of your abilities and judgment to get promoted and receive multiple raises.
HR professionals typically advise against applying for promotions unless you have worked in the position for three years, however this does occasionally happen.
