I have a friend who has been job searching for the past few months. He applied to over 500 companies and received no calls from any of them. I sat down with him one day and went over his resume in detail. It turns out he had not updated his contact information. He mentioned his old phone number and email address, which he no longer uses.
Such a catastrophe! Consider how many opportunities he would have missed due to this minor detail.
So make sure your contact information is up to date.
Here are some other advice:
Don’t just produce one Resume and float it around aimlessly. Take a look at the job description and adjust your resume accordingly. I did the same with data-related jobs. I had several resumes for Data Science, Data Engineering, ML Engineering, and Data Analyst positions, which greatly boosted my chances.
To increase your chances, try applying through the company’s Careers page or connecting with HRs or workers via LinkedIn.
